What the guide covers
The site has three sections. Buying takes a buyer's view of luxury condos, starting with the choice between new development and resale, then what to check on a tour and which amenities are worth paying for. Design covers how the waterfront towers are designed and what interiors and finishes mean day to day. Living covers life with a river view and the neighborhood around the towers.
Three longer articles sit alongside the guides. They look at how the shoreline changed after the 2005 rezoning, how to judge the amenities in a high-rise building, and what daily life in North Williamsburg is like.
How the guides are written
The guides are general and written from a buyer's and resident's point of view. They describe how luxury condos and their buildings tend to work, and they don't review, rank, or describe the current offerings of any particular building. Where a guide relies on a rule or a date, such as a city building law or a state requirement for offering plans, it names the source at the end and shows the date it was last checked.
Nothing on the site is legal, tax, or financial advice. For a specific purchase, a New York real estate attorney is the person to review the contract and the building's documents.
What the site isn't
Northside Piers is an independent guide and is not affiliated with the Northside Piers condominiums, their boards, developers, or brokers. The site doesn't list apartments, quote prices, arrange tours, publish floor plans, or answer questions about any building. The condominium towers of the same name on the Williamsburg waterfront have their own websites and management, and questions about those buildings belong with them.
